AGM Reports (The Presidents and Financial Reports)

The committee suggest that members consider nominating for the Committee. This is a real opportunity for you to contribute to the Shed in a very practical and meaningful way through sharing your talents and abilities in serving on the Committee. If you would like to know more details of what actually happens at Committee level, just speak to any of the Committee members. Contact details at the end of each Newsletter All committees over time require an injection of new and fresh ideas, and our Shed in particular is blessed with members who have numerous and widely ranging skills that would be beneficial in planning, assisting and facilitating our forward program. Being on the Committee gives you a unique opportunity to get involved in some great programs and to help facilitate and encourage member’s suggestions. You will experience the camaraderie and satisfaction of a dedicated and friendly bunch of blokes who genuinely want to see our Shed prosper and grow in a way that is in the interests of our existing members and continues to provide an opportunity for other men in our community to become actively involved and welcomed into our fold. There will be reminders of the next AGM over the month or two before that AGM, and further details will be given at Shed meetings

Ratification of Committee decisions The Shed ratified two decisions made by the committee to formally comply with requirements of its constitution. The first was that the membership joining fee and membership annual renewal fee would remain at zero for FY 2014-2015 so as not to discourage anyone from becoming or remaining members. The second was that as the constitution states that members must pay an annual renewal of membership fee (as evidence of a request for renewal) or have membership cancelled, and as our Shed’s renewal fee is zero, all members who attended at least one Shed activity between 1 July 2014 and 30 September 2014 would be deemed to have requested renewal and paid the renewal fee.

Incoming President’s remarks The incoming President thanked Harry Redfern & Mrs Pauline Hore (auditor), and led the Shed in acclamations for their efforts. He mentioned his disappointment that so few members had nominated for committee positions, and encouraged all members to volunteer for tasks that might arise in the future. Finally, he mentioned his recent visit to Majura Shed, and canvassed Shed interest in visiting other Sheds throughout 2015. Strong interest was shown for such visits. We should all thank our 2014 Committee for seeing us through another very successful year where our numbers again increased and our program went from strength to strength. A special thanks is due to Harry Redfern who has steered the ship for the past three years. Harry’s commitment and his unique leadership style has been greatly appreciated by his Shed Committee and by all Shed Members. Great effort Harry and a great result. We’ll miss you

Annual General Meeting 9th 2012 – AgendaAGM Minutes  Our fourth Annual General Meeting was held from 10:00am on Friday 9th November 2012 at the Shed. The following documentation associated with the AGM was presented to members and accepted.

The following persons nominated for the committee and were elected by acclamation of the meeting:- President – Harry Redfern | Vice President – Geoff Grimmett | Secretary – Don Gruber | Treasurer – Keith Sinderberry Member – Laurie Power | Member – Phil Laird | Member – Ron Thomson

The meeting thanked the outgoing 2011-12 Committee for their efforts during the last year. Thanks are extended in particular to the retiring Committee members, Peter Mitchell and Peter Tilley, for their valuable contribution and service to the Shed in this capacity. Thanks also to our ever-efficient and hard working Secretary Don Gruber for his work in preparing for, and organising, our 2012 AGM. Our financial year to 30 June 2012 was very successful with funds on hand increasing from $3,996 to $7,064. This is a large increase especially now that our Shed meets the cost of our indemnity insurance ($1,072) previously met by the Rotary Club of Ginninderra and a contribution of $250 per quarter towards the annual cost of services and maintenance of our accommodation.

The Committee met on Monday 15 October. The Committee noted that sufficient funds were now available to safely commit to the Shed extension, subject to discussion with Members. The Shed currently has Grants (ie nonrepayable) totalling $22,000 plus more than $8,000 of our own money
